Bandung Regency Transportation Office Begins Preliminary Survey for 2026 Free Homecoming Program

Bandung – The Bandung Regency Transportation Office (Dishub), West Java, has begun conducting a preliminary survey as part of preparations for the 2026 Free Homecoming (Mudik Gratis) Program. This initial stage is being carried out ahead of the registration opening, which is scheduled for early February 2026.

The preliminary survey aims to map the most popular homecoming destinations among residents of Bandung Regency. The results of the mapping will later serve as the basis for determining the routes to be offered under the 2026 Free Homecoming Program.

In the initial phase, the Bandung Regency Transportation Office has prepared 12 buses in accordance with the available budget allocation. Nevertheless, opportunities for cooperation with various stakeholders and private-sector partners remain open to increase the number of vehicles, given the high level of public interest in the free homecoming program.

Based on evaluations from previous years, the Transportation Office has previously opened several homecoming routes, including Cilacap, Yogyakarta, Klaten, Solo, Semarang, and Tegal. During those periods, the number of registrants exceeded 1,000 people, making it necessary to add more buses through partnerships with private companies.

Regarding the registration mechanism, the Bandung Regency Transportation Office is still reviewing the most effective and accessible system for the public, including the possibility of using a dedicated online-based platform.

Once registration opens, the office will conduct a participant verification process. The primary requirement for prospective participants is that they must be residents of Bandung Regency, as proven by a National Identity Card (KTP) or a domicile certificate issued by the local authorities.

Participants who pass the verification process will be required to complete an in-person re-registration. This step is intended to ensure confirmation of departure and to anticipate cancellations, allowing available quotas to be reassigned to those on the waiting list.

The implementation of the 2026 Free Homecoming Program is planned to take place during a relatively less congested traffic period, around seven days before Eid al-Fitr (H-7). Departures will be centralized at the Gedung Budaya Soreang (GBS).
