The Rise of the Green Horse: Kuningan Regency Records Highest Growth in Rebana Metropolitan 2025
KUNINGAN REGENCY, Djabar.com — In 2025, Kuningan Regency in West Java recorded the highest economic growth in the Rebana Metropolitan economic corridor, marking a significant development in one of Indonesia’s strategic investment regions.
Based on the latest year-on-year (YoY) data, Kuningan posted 6.98 percent growth, the strongest performance among the seven districts included in the corridor.
Majalengka Regency followed closely with 6.86 percent, while the Cirebon region recorded 6.23 percent. Other districts such as Sumedang (5.48 percent) and Subang (5.01 percent) also showed steady growth across the region.
Unlike many neighboring districts that focus heavily on industrial expansion, Kuningan has promoted a “green economy” approach, combining economic growth with environmental protection.
Rebana as a Regional Growth Corridor
The Rebana Metropolitan corridor is a major development initiative designed to strengthen economic activity in northern West Java.
According to Helmy Yahya, Chief Executive of the Rebana Area Management Agency, the corridor integrates industrial estates with key national infrastructure projects such as Kertajati International Airport and Patimban Seaport.
“Rebana is designed to become one of Indonesia’s new economic growth centers,” Helmy said, noting that the region has strong potential to attract both domestic and international investment.
With improved connectivity and expanding industrial zones, the corridor is expected to play a larger role in Indonesia’s manufacturing and logistics network in the coming years.
Balancing Development and Environmental Protection
One factor that distinguishes Kuningan from other districts in the region is its strong commitment to environmental conservation.
The regency remains an important conservation area in West Java and is often described as an environmental buffer for the surrounding region.
Regent Dian Rachmat Yanuar, the head of Kuningan Regency, said the local government is determined to maintain this balance.
“Kuningan supports economic growth in the Rebana region, but environmental protection remains a priority,” he said.
Improving Regional Competitiveness
Kuningan’s development progress is also reflected in the Regional Competitiveness Index (IDSD) published by Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
In the 2025 report, Kuningan ranked fourth among districts in West Java, indicating improvements in economic capacity, governance, and development performance.
With steady economic growth, improving competitiveness, and a development strategy that emphasizes sustainability, Kuningan is gradually emerging as an important contributor to West Java’s economic transformation.
