West Java Police Increase Patrols to Protect Flood-Affected Residents in Karawang

Karawang, January 19, 2026 – The West Java Regional Police have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents affected by flooding by increasing patrol activities in several residential areas.

West Java Police Public Relations Head, Kombes Pol. Hendra Rochmawan, S.I.K., M.H., stated that the patrols are conducted as a preventive measure to curb potential criminal activity, particularly theft in homes left vacant by residents who evacuated due to the floods.

Karawang Police Chief, AKBP Fiki Novian Ardiansyah, emphasized that the safety of the community is the top priority in disaster management. He noted that the police continue evacuation efforts for residents still trapped in flood-affected areas.

The safety of residents is our top priority, especially for those who need to be evacuated immediately from their homes due to being trapped by the floodwaters,” said AKBP Fiki Novian Ardiansyah on Monday (Jan 19, 2026).

In addition to evacuation, the Karawang Police have deployed personnel to secure residential areas left vacant during the evacuation period. Routine patrols are being intensified to ensure the situation remains safe and conducive, while preventing looting.

In carrying out these operations, the police prioritize a human-centered approach and coordinate closely with relevant agencies, including deploying Dalmas and Satpolairud personnel, and coordinating with West Java Police for the establishment of community kitchens to support flood-affected residents.
