Inter-Group Clash in Lembang Leaves One Dead
CIMAHI — Senior figures from the mass organizations Pemuda Pancasila (PP) and Gibas took part in a mediation process following a clash that occurred at a karaoke venue in the Lembang area, West Bandung Regency. The mediation was held at the Cimahi Police Headquarters on Wednesday night (January 21, 2026).
Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Niko N. Adiputra said the mediation aimed to maintain public order and emphasized that the case would be handled in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
“This dialogue is intended to ensure that both parties fully submit the case to the legal process,” Niko said.
The police chief confirmed that a clash between members of the two organizations had taken place and stated that several suspected perpetrators had been detained for further investigation.
However, investigators are still examining the case as one of the victims remains in intensive medical care due to serious injuries. The motive behind the clash, Niko added, will be disclosed in detail after the investigation is completed.
“What is certain is that the incident did occur, and we have secured several individuals in connection with the case,” he stressed.
Niko also urged both parties to help maintain security and stability, particularly in the Lembang tourism area. He reassured the public that the situation in Lembang remains safe and under control.
“The public does not need to worry. Lembang is not tense and remains safe for tourists to visit,” he said.
The clash occurred on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) at a café in the Lembang area. The incident involved members of Pemuda Pancasila and Gibas and resulted in the death of a Gibas member identified as Agus B.I. (45).
In addition to the fatality, a man identified as Iwan Setiawan (50) sustained serious injuries, while three others suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment.
Based on information obtained, the altercation began when a group of Pemuda Pancasila members were using the karaoke facility. When their allotted time ended, a group from Gibas arrived and requested to take turns, but the request was reportedly rejected.
Tensions escalated for approximately 30 minutes before the situation turned into a physical confrontation. Several individuals from both groups were involved, and dozens more were reported to have arrived at the scene to assist their respective groups.
Lembang Police Chief AKP Dana Suhenda said officers immediately responded after receiving reports from local residents.
“We promptly secured the area, examined the crime scene, and collected statements from witnesses,” he said.
