Bandung Prepares to Host Selangor International Business Summit 2026
BANDUNG – The Bandung City Government has begun finalizing preparations to host the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), a business and investment forum set to bring together government representatives and business leaders from Indonesia and Malaysia, particularly West Java Province and the State of Selangor.
Bandung City Secretary Iskandar Zulkarnain said the initial meeting with the Selangor delegation marked an important first step toward more concrete investment cooperation between Bandung, West Java, and Selangor.
He explained that the meeting served not only as a courtesy visit but also as a platform to discuss potential strategic partnerships, especially in investment and economic development.
“This meeting marks the beginning of building synergy between the Bandung City Government and Selangor, particularly in promoting investment and driving economic growth,” Iskandar said at Bandung City Hall on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).
He added that the SIBS event involves multiple stakeholders, including the West Java Provincial Government, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and private sector players, highlighting that the initiative extends beyond the city level.
“The scale is not limited to Bandung alone, but encompasses West Java as a whole. Therefore, collaboration opportunities are broad, including manufacturing and strategic industries involving SOEs,” he said.
According to a presentation by the Selangor delegation, economic relations between Indonesia and Malaysia are built on a strong foundation. Indonesia remains one of Malaysia’s key export destinations, while Malaysian investment in Indonesia continues to rank among the highest in the region.
Selangor is recognized as Malaysia’s largest contributor to national economic output, driven by strong service and manufacturing sectors, as well as emerging strategic clusters such as technology, logistics, halal industries, and life sciences.
Meanwhile, West Java stands as one of Indonesia’s main economic engines, with leading sectors including manufacturing, transportation, logistics, trade, and services.
Through SIBS, several high-potential sectors are expected to become the focus of cooperation, including aerospace, rail, automotive, creative industries, technology, medical tourism, waste-to-energy, urban mobility, as well as property development and construction.
The summit is designed to go beyond panel discussions, featuring business matching sessions, sectoral meetings, site visits to potential projects, and investment and tourism exhibitions.
The Bandung City Government has welcomed the initiative as a strategic opportunity to expand its investment network and strengthen Bandung’s position as a regional economic growth hub within ASEAN.
“We are open to mutually beneficial partnerships, while ensuring alignment with central and provincial government policies,” Iskandar concluded.
The Selangor International Business Summit is scheduled to take place in Bandung in July 2026, bringing together government officials, business communities, and key stakeholders from both countries.
