Bandung Regency Allocates Rp900 Billion to Build 7,000 School Toilets

Bandung, West Java – The Bandung Regency Government has allocated a substantial budget to improve sanitation facilities in schools. A total of approximately Rp900 billion has been set aside for the construction of thousands of toilet units across schools throughout Bandung Regency.

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna stated that based on field assessments, there is a shortage of nearly 7,000 toilet units in educational institutions. The figure was calculated by taking into account the ideal ratio between the number of students and the availability of sanitation facilities.

“Based on our calculations, schools require around 7,000 toilet units with an estimated budget of approximately Rp900 billion,” Dadang said in Bandung on Tuesday.

He explained that the planning standard applies a ratio of one toilet unit for every 40 male students and one unit for every 30 female students. The target aims to ensure that all schools are equipped with proper sanitation facilities that meet health standards.

In addition to toilet construction, the Bandung Regency Government is also encouraging cross-government collaboration to fulfill educational infrastructure needs. The regional administration plans to seek funding support from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) so that the school revitalization program can be implemented jointly.

According to Dadang, the total demand for educational facilities and infrastructure in Bandung Regency is estimated to exceed Rp2 trillion. Therefore, the local government will continue to pursue support from the central government through the state budget (APBN).

Meanwhile, the Bandung Regency Government continues to prioritize school revitalization and rehabilitation programs, as well as the construction of new classrooms. Currently, there is still a shortage of around 2,117 classrooms, which needs to be addressed to improve the quality of teaching and learning across Bandung Regency.
