Padalarang Village Boosts MSME Competitiveness Through Halal Certification
West Bandung – The Padalarang Village Government in West Bandung Regency continues to strengthen community-based village economy by developing local businesses. One of the initiatives was showcased during the UMKM Festival (Gebyar UMKM) held at the Tebing 125 tourist area in Padalarang on Sunday (January 18, 2026).
During the event, Padalarang Village, in collaboration with BUMDes Hawu Pabeasan, handed over halal certificates to 160 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The symbolic distribution represents support for improving the quality and competitiveness of village MSME products.
Halal certification is seen as increasingly important as consumer awareness grows regarding products that are not only high-quality but also safe and compliant with halal standards. With official certification, MSMEs are expected to access broader markets and strengthen their competitiveness.
Village Head Karom stated that halal certification forms a fundamental pillar for village entrepreneurs to develop and scale up their businesses. He emphasized that legal recognition is essential for MSMEs to adapt to the dynamic economic environment.
“The presence of halal certificates boosts consumer trust and opens up greater marketing opportunities. This effort is part of our commitment to ensure local businesses remain competitive,” he added.
The choice of Tebing 125 as the event location also serves a strategic purpose. As a leading village tourist destination, the area functions as an integrated promotional space where tourism and MSMEs reinforce each other.
Karom noted that the high enthusiasm from the community indicates strong potential for collaboration between MSMEs and village tourism development. He hopes that residents’ economic activity will grow alongside rising tourist visits.
Padalarang Village plans to continue similar initiatives in the future. With stronger business legality and a thriving tourism sector, the village aims for sustainable and equitable local economic growth.
