Thousands of PPPK Teachers in West Bandung Hold Grand Thanksgiving Event, Strengthen Educational Synergy

WEST BANDUNG — Around 3,000 teachers appointed as Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) in West Bandung Regency (KBB) held a grand thanksgiving event as an expression of gratitude and as a momentum to strengthen aspirations and synergy in regional education development.

The event was organized following the official inauguration of the teachers as PPPK employees in November last year. The appointment marked a historic moment, as many of the teachers had served for decades as honorary educators before finally obtaining PPPK status.

Initiated by the West Bandung Regional Teachers and Education Personnel Forum (FGTK), the event was attended by various regional executive and legislative figures. Among those present were West Bandung Regional Secretary Ade Zakir, West Bandung DPRD Chairman M. Mahdi, Chair of Commission IV Nur Djulaeha, PGRI Chair Rustiyana, as well as representatives from the Education Office and BKPSDM. Several leaders of teacher forums, including FGTK administrators, were also in attendance.

The organizing committee stated that the event was carefully prepared and aimed not only as a gathering for strengthening ties, but also as a form of appreciation to policymakers involved in the lengthy PPPK appointment process. Over more than a year, teachers actively pursued various efforts, ranging from local-level dialogues to engagements with central government institutions.

The PPPK teachers also expressed appreciation for the West Bandung Regency Government’s policy regarding PPPK salaries, which are considered relatively better compared to those in several other regions.

Beyond ceremonial activities, the event featured a talk show and open discussion with government officials. The forum was used by teachers to convey aspirations, concerns, and hopes regarding the current conditions and future of education in West Bandung.

As part of its social commitment, the thanksgiving event also included donations for orphans. The program concluded with entertainment and a door prize session, including an umrah pilgrimage package sponsored by supporting partners.

The committee emphasized that the entire event was self-funded by the teachers and did not utilize any regional budget (APBD). Sponsorship support was said to come from teachers’ family members working in various companies.

Looking ahead, the FGTK of West Bandung hopes to continue serving as a strategic partner to the regional government. With the majority of its members coming from Generation Z and millennial backgrounds, the forum aims to channel ideas, innovation, and positive energy constructively to improve the quality of education in West Bandung.
