Wrong-Way Minibus Incident in Cimahi Goes Viral, Sparks Tension on the Road
CIMAHI — A video showing a tense confrontation on a public road has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread public attention. The incident involved a female private car driver and a city minibus (angkot) driver operating on a Cimahi route, who was allegedly violating traffic regulations and worsening congestion.
The incident took place on Jalan Nanjung, Cimahi City. According to available information, the tension was triggered when the angkot driver recklessly entered the opposite lane in an attempt to bypass heavy traffic.
The maneuver caused traffic flow to stall and led to long queues in both directions. The angkot eventually became stuck in the oncoming lane, unable to immediately return to its proper lane.
Other vehicles were seen waiting in an orderly manner, including a large concrete mixer truck that was also obstructed by the angkot driver’s actions.
In the widely circulated video, the private car driver can be seen asking the angkot driver to reverse and rejoin the line of vehicles. She refused to give way, arguing that the angkot driver’s actions were careless and did not reflect proper traffic discipline.
The situation escalated further as the angkot attempted to back into its lane. A police officer passing the location on a motorcycle later intervened and issued a warning to the angkot driver, stating that the maneuver had significantly worsened traffic congestion.
After managing to rejoin the traffic flow and continue the journey, the angkot driver was still seen expressing anger toward the private car driver who had earlier confronted him.
In response to the incident, the Cimahi City Transportation Agency stated that it would conduct an inspection of the angkot involved, including checking its route permit and the driver’s identity.
The local government has also reminded all public transport drivers to strictly comply with traffic regulations to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow, especially during peak congestion.
